LUNAS is a two-stage commercial industrial design studio project designed for the post-COVID luxury beauty retail context. Stage one explores the brand identity, product range, packaging, and a touch-free in-store trial device. Stage two translates the brand language into a holistic spatial and landscape design, culminating in a two-floor store layout, exterior landscaping, and a smartphone app. All design decisions are grounded in primary research into post-COVID customer behaviour.
In today’s world, holistic luxury body care entails using natural ingredients, organic formulations, and science-backed practices that work. The post-COVID mindset also demands touch-free, hygienic trials and samples. For a luxury beauty and body care brand, building trust is the most important thing. This can be achieved through:
LUNAS aims to offer just that, and more.
Stay tuned to peek into the journey of building LUNAS, An Indulgence of Heavenly Purity.
The main colours are white, #ddbd3e (a shade of mustard yellow) and #1e201f (a dark cyan blue closer to black).
Mood board key areas: ground floor lounge, visual merchandising, top-floor brand products.
Glass elevators and a spiral staircase connect the floors, with an exploration of the store’s exterior landscape design.
Post-COVID features: Touchless technology, spacious layouts, and crowd control systems for a safe and luxurious shopping experience.

A luxury cosmetics brand and store for the post-COVID era: LUNAS.
The logo was designed by combining a lamp and a pestle and mortar with a structure inspired by a Masala Dubba (a box with different ingredients used in a home for cooking and home remedies).
The colours white, #ddbd3e (a shade of mustard yellow) and #1e201f (a dark cyan blue closer to black) were chosen to make the branding associate with luxury and premium care.
A tagline, An Indulgence of Heavenly Purity, was chosen to reflect the natural and organic formulations this brand promotes.
Everything in this brand follow the same brand language to create a holistic and premium experience. This includes the Welcome sample kit, the trial device, the bottles for the products, the mobile application, the interiors, the exteriors and the landscape design of the store.
The store layouts on both floors were inspired by the logo and feature a similar pattern, with other design elements adding form to function.
An exploded view of just the individual stalls for each boutique, the display screens/standees placed around the store and the mock advert show the details of these elements.

Mock Avert
Products: five kinds of bottles and containers for cosmetics, packaging, and a welcome kit or first-time customers, with trial products.
A hands-free in-store trial device to ensure hygienic product trials, especially in the post-COVID era. The functionality and efficiency were explored.

These are initial designs and can be further tested and refined. This was the first stage in the industrial design studio project, exploring end-to-end customised design.
Store and landscape design are carried out as a second stage of the industrial design studio project. The boutique layout divides the space by product range (e.g., Rose, Tea, Chocolate, Turmeric, Milk), inspired by the logo.
